Rotifers
Just like other rotifers, Philodina’s are known for their ciliated organs around their mouth. These are cilia that suck food towards the mouth by moving in a quick sweeping motion. This produces a flow that causes food to move towards the mouth.
Ladies club
All P. roseola are female. The organism replicates via asexual reproduction. This means that no males are needed within the species. P. roseala reproduces by laying unfertilized eggs that hatch to new females. In this way the mother essentially ‘clones’ herself.
